Director of Agricultural Irrigation
Dr. Liferdi Lukman, S.P., M.Si.
Dr. Liferdi Lukman, S.P., M.Si., was inaugurated as the Director of Agricultural Irrigation on February 6, 2026. Prior to this, he served as Director of Fruits and Floriculture at the Directorate General of Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture, since 2019. Throughout his career in the Ministry of Agriculture, Liferdi has also been entrusted as Acting Director of Horticultural Seeds and Acting Director of Horticultural Protection.
His professional career in agriculture began in the early 1990s as a laboratory and field technician at horticultural research institutions. Since being appointed as a researcher in 1998, Liferdi has actively conducted research in agronomy and plant ecophysiology, particularly in horticultural commodities. Over the course of his research career, he progressed from Junior Researcher to Senior Researcher, engaging in various research, analysis, and development of crop cultivation technologies.
In addition to his role as a researcher, Liferdi has extensive managerial experience in agricultural research and development. He has served as Head of the Vegetable Crops Research Institute (Balitsa) and Head of the Agricultural Technology Assessment Center (BPTP) of West Java, where he was responsible for overseeing institutional operations, advancing agricultural technology innovation, and strengthening location-specific research and assessment activities.
At both national and international levels, Liferdi has actively participated in various strategic agricultural forums and initiatives. He has represented the Republic of Indonesia in international cooperation activities, including ODICOFF meetings held in the Netherlands, Belgium, Serbia, and Turkey, as well as other agricultural cooperation forums across Asia and the Pacific region. He has also been involved in G20 agricultural sector activities and various international forums focusing on horticultural development and sustainable food systems.
Beyond his roles in bureaucracy and research, Liferdi has also contributed to academia. He has served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture, Mahaputra Muhammad Yamin University, and as a guest lecturer at several higher education institutions, including IPB University and the Institute of Public Administration (STPDN). In these roles, he has shared his expertise in agricultural technology development, horticultural policy, and agronomic innovation.
Within professional organizations, Liferdi has been actively involved in several scientific and agricultural associations. He served as First Vice Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Horticulture Society (PERHORTI) and has been actively engaged in the Indonesian Agronomy Society (PERAGI) and other professional organizations dedicated to the advancement of agricultural and horticultural sciences in Indonesia.
Liferdi Lukman was born in Solok, West Sumatra, on October 7, 1970. He obtained his bachelor’s degree (S1) in Agricultural Cultivation from Mahaputra Muhammad Yamin University, followed by a master’s degree (S2) in Agronomy with a specialization in Ecophysiology from IPB University. He later earned his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Agronomy, specializing in Plant Nutrition, also from IPB University.
Throughout his career, Liferdi has received numerous awards, including the Satyalancana Karya Satya X-Year (2012) and XX-Year (2020) Service Awards from the President of the Republic of Indonesia in recognition of his dedication as a civil servant. He has also received various awards in agricultural research and innovation, including Best Scientific Paper Author within the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development.
His scientific publications and research outputs have been published in both Indonesian and English in scientific journals, semi-scientific magazines, proceedings, and books.
